Syed Aqil Shah takes up Sports Ministry |

Syed Aqil Shah, ex-President of Abdalians' Association was appointed as the Minister of Sports by the NWFP government after he won a provincial seat on an ANP ticket from Peshawar in the last general elections held in February 2008. Syed Aqil Shah belongs to the 11th entry (1963-68).
Aqil Shah got his early education from Burn Hall School Abbottabad. He joined Cadet College Hasanabdal in 1963 and joined Government College lahore after passing out in 1968. His interest in sports developed earlir in life and Cadet College gave it a much needed impetus. His political life spans over 30 years. He acted as the member of Peshawar Cantonment Board for two terms. He has also served as President National Awami Party, City District Peshawar, for two terms. He has occupied senior positions in the party and has remained Provincial Joint Secretary ANP (two terms), Provincial Senior Vice President ANP (one term), Provincial Information Secretary ANP (two terms). He is currently occupying the position of the Provincial Minister for Sports, Government of NWFP. He has also remained as a member of the Senate of Pakistan for one term. |

Khurram Dastgir Khan elected MNA from Gujranwala |

Engr. Khurram Dastgir Khan of 29th Entry (Iqbal Wing) was elected recently to the National Assembly from NA-96 (Gujranwala) on a PML-N ticket. On 24 March 2008, he moved the first-ever bill of the 13th National Assembly when he submitted the "Oath of Office (Judges) Order (Repeal) Act". Khurram continues the legacy of his father, Ghulam Dastgir Khan. Dastgir Senior won election to the National Assembly in 1977, 1990, 1993, and 1997; he also served twice in the federal cabinet as Minister for Labour, Manpower, and Overseas Pakistanis and later as Minister for Local Government and Rural Development. Khurram was serving as Special Assistant to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif at the time of the army takeover in October 1999. While under military house arrest, he raised one of the first voices for democracy when he condemned the coup d'etat on BBC World Service Radio mere two days after Musharraf's imposed martial law. He contested unsuccessfully the 2002 general election on a PML-N ticket and was appointed Central Joint Secretary and ex-officio member of Central Working Committee of PML-N in April 2006. He is a member of PML-N's Policy Planning Committee that prepared the 2007 manifesto of the Party. |

Aminullah Khan promoted as Air Vice Marshall |

After graduating from Cadet College Hasanabdal in 1975, Air Vice Marshall Aminullah Khan joined the Pakistan Airforce in 1976. He graduated from College of Aeronautical Engineering, Korangi Creek in January 1980. Soon after he was selected for his assignment as Engineering Officer on F-16 aircraft. During this time, he did courses on F-16 aircraft structures and electrical system from USA. Aminullah is from the the 17th Entry and was in Omar Wing during his stay at Cadet College. Besides these professional courses, he has also done Engineering Field Supervisor, Senior Engineering Management and Senior Command and Staff courses. During his entire service career he has held a variety of important assignements at operational bases and Air Headquarters including command of an Engineering Wing of Operational Base and Deputy Project Director at Air Headquarters. Moreover he has also served with the Royal Saudi Air Force on deputation. |

New offfice bearers announced in the AGM |

The Annual General Meeting's key event like always was the election of the President, Secretary General and Members of the Executive Committee. Syed Ashfaq Hussain (11th Entry) was declared the President and was elected unopposed. Brig. Ahmed Riza Siddiqi from the 10th entry and son of Prof. Siddiqi (late) withdrew his nomination papers in favor of Syed Ashfaq Hussain. Capt (R) Nayyar Islam (15th Entry) was elected as the Secretary General after Dr. Faisal Manzoor (22nd Entry) withdrew his name in Nayyar's favor.
The AGM of Abdalians' Association was held at Cadet College Hasanabdal on 27th January, 2008. It was presided by the patron-in-chief, A/Cdre Tayyab Akhtar, Principal Cadet College Hasanabdal. The day started with the usual tea and registration in the lawns between the education block and the staf room. After offering dua at the Shuhada Monument the boys went into Naeem Hall to participate in the proceedings of the AGM, which started of with the recitation of the holy Quran. The principal, A/Cdre Tayyab Akhtar made the opening speech and told the audience of what the College administration was doing for a better relationship with the Abdalians Association and the well being of the cadets in general. He gave a specific mention about entry into the College by ex-cadets and why it was necessary to have proof of identification given at the time of entry. He also requested Abdalians to give prior notice of their visit to the College due to security concerns. |

Azhar Ali Shah announces a Gold Medal for best sportsman |

Azhar Ali Shah, belonging to the 24th entry (Haider Wing) and son of Late Prof. Z. A. Shah (Ex-Principal) announced an award of a Gold Medal for the best sportsman of year at the annual general meeting held on 27th January, 2008 at Cadet College Hasanabdal. Azhar is a telecom professional and has been in the business for the last 20 years. In recognition of services rendered to Cadet College Hasanabdal in the areas of academics and sports, by his late father, he announced a Gold Medal (Z.A.Shah Best Sportsman of the Year) with a cash prize of Rs.10,000 yesterday in the College. The announcement was widely appreciated and applauded by all Abdalians present at the occasion. Well done Azhar! |
